Tuxedo Mines Guestbook

Thank you for visiting Tuxedo Mines. Please sign the Guestbook!   Let me (and the world) know what you think.   Vent if you like.   As you may have noticed, it gets rather, umm, silly in here...so don't be shy.

Oh yes...Spammers should note:   I know you don't actually READ the guestbooks into which you try to deposit your cockroach droppings, so you will be pleased to know that your spambots don't work here.   This guestbook requires a conscious human being at the controls, and despite your best efforts to pollute my guestbook, they haven't worked.   For years I used a home-made spam blocker with great success, using modified script files I originally lifted from Matt's Script Archive, and there hadn't been a single successful spam hit.   Readers won't need to plough through many links advertizing edible underwear to deposit snark about my contrarian views on Climate Change.   Presently I'm using a guestbook script from Snaphost, but the old guestbook entries are listed below.

There are amazing new alternatives to traditional methods of washing invert mud samples! Oil companies should be on the hook for the saftey of well site geologists - more efficient and less harmful! Check out WWW.PARA-GONE.CA Thank you

Climate change is a load of B.S and I wish people would be practical about climate and accept that it changes naturally! We just have to clean up our raw sewage so it doesn't go into our lakes, rivers and oceans! That and clean up the dumps too. To me that is more important!

I appreciate your entry in the guestbook at Tuxedo Mines However, I have to disagree with you. First of all, Varsol (not 'varisol') is not carcinogenic. Secondly, the method I use when using varsol is very neat, minimizing exposure to the invert samples. Disposal is accomplished by addition to the mud system. Thirdly, Varsol is inexpensive when purchased in drums. Doing the whole thing in covered buckets reduces the smell to zero.

possibly do it at WUWT. That's like trying to learn history by reading The Lord of the Rings. The world needs people who understand right now, not people who arrogantly parrot the same idiocy they read because they're too stupid to learn and see the truth, or because they'd rather trust weathermen and wannabe-English-Lords than science and scientists.

Another case of an angry proponent of AGW trolling in my guestbook. Notice that whomever it is hasn't the courage to leave his/her name. The usual ad hominem attack about being too stupid to "learn and see" Care to engage in a debate? I didn't think so.

Thank you for contributing to Watts up with that! I enjoy looking at the web sites for those that have them . . . I actually tried to find out if tuxedo mines is a real mining business as I know those that are really interested in those types of "ventures"! Best wishes, I hope your education paid off . . .

Found your site while searching for information on well site geology. Had pretty well run the gammut of mud logging information. Loved the ideas and comments, esp the memories of your friend and had to laugh at the comments about the low life ron. I had a boss like him and it totally ruined what was otherwise a wonderful job. I have been mudlogging less than 5 years total. BS geology, MS physics, 2.5 years geophysicist; 4 years petroleum geologist; 20 years teaching geology and physics as 2 year technical and community colleges. Took a job as a mud logger as a summer alternative to facing more students whose numbers of reasons they couldn't learn exceeded only their dislike for subject they were taking. Fell in love with getting paid to look at rocks and the quality of the people at the wellsites. Started my own company Sept 1010 to work primarily for one company and it is the greatest job I have every had - good rig, good people, good money, good locations. My only regret is that I have so few years left to do this wonderful work and to work with these people, esp the 64 year old company man who, three years after telling me my only job ws to keep my mouth shut, stay out of his way, and get my morning reports in at 6 Am told me "This well isn't for beginners and that's the reason your here. You're my mudlogger now, if I am on a location you will be there too if I can arrange it and I usually get what I want." I pretty well owe my company to the support of him, one mud engineer, a drilling engineer who is one of two principle owners in the company for whom I log, the bank, and a friend of my wife who put up a 100K CD to guarentee the loan with which I bought my trailer and equipment. I look forward to implimenting some of your suggestions and will forward for you consideration a few of the things I have found work well. Perhaps they would not work so well everywhere but they seem to work in the Texas Panhandle. Darryl

I think you really need to study climate change a bit more. It is real and it's happening...much faster than predicted. All the ice isn't in the ocean already like you say. C'mon now? What about the Greenland Ice Sheet...Yup..it's on Greenland and it's MELTING meaning it's ADDING WATER. Where exactly is YOUR proof that it's not happening? Thanks for your naive thoughts on the matter.

Thanks, Brad...I ain't never heard my selection of tunes described that way. I had to check the urban dictionary to see if any new shades of meaning were implied....

Hi Mike; I got your name from Austin Clark, mando luthier. What can you tell me about the A models he builds? I'm looking for a good A type for swing and jazz. I have a Weber Absoroka that's ok but I want something a notch or 2 better built than that. Apparently, the Clark mandolins are really good for playing jazz according to one of the mando mags and I want to get opinions from others. You go to Nog Fest it looks like - we've been going for years - perhaps we've met. Regards, Don Gowan

I keep returning to your site quite irregularly, and have developed a sense of appreciation for your words and ideas. Keep it up. Aren't those ghibli's wonderful. There's fine sand, grit and silt everywhere, even in places that cause transdermal abrasion. I'll trade you one 15 metre wave on a semi sub for some slightly warm winds (not quite ghibli conditions) across the desert.

I remember you walking into a mandolin workshop I had going on in Saulnierville a couple of years ago..Being from Canada, and everyone else there, some were all taken aback somewhat at your comment about Canadians, putting too much into their playing, and should relax like some of the fellas down South do. Some where upset, however I wasn't..haha You were interesting to listen to, and I remember telling you I had met some "PHD" types when I lived in Boston, and you said," I have a PHD" I thought that was really really funny..Anyways, I was refering to the intellect of people I met while learning the mandolin back in the early 90's in the various coffehouses throughout Cambridge Massachusetts...very opinionated, and not the stereotype bluegrassers that most organizations portray with the Jug with the 3 XXX's on it and the hound dog sleeping at the foot of a bearded fiddler... (yes our own bluegrass association is cursed with such a logo--minus the dog) Anyways..good finding ya! Regards David Saulnier

Ah yes, you have Hans Sahlen listed as a great player in your top 300....the same Hans Sahlen who emailed his daughter, Emily Sahlen, to say she was a mistake and should never had been born. kudos on your low bar rating for your top musicians! Bastard father, yet wonderful on a 12 string.

I'll have to come and listen to you play sometime Mike. As for the "rock hound" pursuits, what day do you want me in Tripoli or at the Rig. Could you forward the schedule you have made up to me, and I'll get the flight booked. I'll try "skyping" U

Wacky interstices? I like that. I'll add it to my resume, Alec. It is getting a bit porous between me ears these days, a bit like the Libyan desert sands I am becoming accustomed to....

Hello all, I am trying to get in contact with an old buddy. His name is Mike King. We grew up together in the late '70's early '80's. He is originally from the Richmond Hill, Ontario area and is a guitar player living in the Calgary area the last time I connected with him. If anyone is in contact with Mike, please send him my email address attached. NO, he doesn't owe me money!!! He has a few brothers probably living in the Calgary area as well.. Bob, John, Bill and one other to which his name eludes me. He had a hiper dog named "Vinny" who bit me on the lower lip one afternoon when Mike was pre-occupied talking to his girl friend at the time. Oh ya his fathers name was Cecil! Mike send me an email! Through Mike Leblanc, my husband and I had the great pleasure of discovering Morgan's and, in fact, YOU were playing that day. The calibre of musicians there is excellent and we are becoming reborn into the blues. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips.I have been doing wellsite for over 20 years, working with invert and damn cold weather. I like the bubble hose plug and have adapted it for my use. My system for working with invert is the same as yours, containment, isolation and vacuum. I don't even let them put the bags in the shack, and use a covered bucket outside the door as invert neer freezes. Thanks for taking the time to build this site.

Actually, the name on the list is Joey McIntire. John Mcintire is indeed one of the tube gurus, as is Keith McNeil, whom I deal with. He can be found at http://www.claramps.com/ The list is of musicians.

Dudley's in High River or Kings Head, as an alternate Thursday thing....Now, as to whether I'll meet you, that depends on the Oilpatch. Hope it helps....

Like the site, reminds me of my mudlogging days in the Rockies. I used a large diamter loop with antifreeze in it at the trap to keep my lines clear then a bubble jar inside the unit. Worked good most of the time. I worked a lot of air drill in the Piceance Ck.
